Eric was born in St. Paul, Minnesota. He started piano lessons at seven and took up the saxophone at age twelve. Eric’s family moved to Memphis, Tennessee where he finished high school and played with local bands CYC and The New Memphis Hepcats. At the age of twenty-one Eric was invited to audition for legendary blues singer Bobby “Blue” Bland, and he toured with the singer for nearly two years.

In 2007, Eric and his wife Marina founded Mullins Music, a 501(c)(3) non-profit music school and recording studio in downtown New Port Richey, Florida. In 2010 Eric created Potjiekos – a full-length album of original children’s music inspired by Raffi and Sesame Street. In 2021 Eric recorded Unexpected Beauty, his first jazz album as a leader, featuring all original compositions.

Eric studied music at The University of Louisville, The University of Memphis, and graduated in 2003 with a B.F.A. from New School University in New York City. His affinity for music has taken him throughout the United States, as well as to Canada, Europe, Ghana, and Japan.
